Why your business needs to hire a social media manager…
I’ve been using social media to promote, grow and improve businesses since 2006 and I absolutely love the huge opportunities that social media offers in terms of brand promotion and loyalty. If you’re looking to focus on social media to broaden your business reach, you’re doing the right thing. Australians spend more time on social media than any other country, so it’s vital that businesses maintain a presence on social media platforms. Here are the reasons your business needs a social media manager…
Customer service and word of mouth
The fastest way to respond to your customers is via social media. In fact, statistics show that 70% of consumers use social media platforms to contact brands for customer service questions and concerns. And word of mouth is now your online reputation – one person’s Facebook recommendation (or otherwise) can make or break a business. By examining your social media accounts, you’ll be able to tell where your target market spends their time online. Do you get the most responses on Snapchat? Facebook? Whichever platform is your most successful, you know to devote more time to it.
Reporting and tracking results
Social media provides you with incredibly valuable information — not to mention hard data — about how your customers behave online. However, you can’t make the most of that data if you don’t have the time or the expertise to analyse it. The Insights tab within Facebook alone has data on when, where and how people acccess your page. It can tell you if they’re male or female, their age, what city they live in and what their likes are. Dedicating time to learn all the options for tracking and reporting is not always possible for business owners, so it’s often the best option to outsource.
An outside perspective
You may love your product, understand the ins and outs of it, and be totally convinced of it’s merits. However, you have lived and breathed it. Think about a customer or potential customer new to your business – would they understand what a certain ingredient means, or the impact of a type of production? Bringing an outside perspective to your business in the form of a social media manager can highlight the areas of your business that you need to explain more, or highlight.
From creating beautiful images to share on social media, to the knowledge of how to best use hashtags, social media managers have all of the skills necessary to make an online impact in-built into their psyche. Social media should not be an afterthought. When you hire someone whose sole job it is to manage your social media accounts, you’ll ensure that no comments go unanswered, and that your target market always knows the latest news from your brand.
