I work from home every day (often including the weekend, which I know is not healthy, but sometimes needs must!) and I can honestly say I love it. Working from home is not for everyone – some people need a boss to tell them what to do, or co-workers to throw ideas around with and chat to, and that’s a lot of fun. But here’s the thing for me: I get so much more work done when I don’t have colleagues sitting next to me. In previous roles the social element of work was fantastic, but it also eats into your actual productive work time. Here at home, the only distractions are housework and cooking. Not as exciting as a half an hour gossip session about someone else’s debauched weekend.
